DOUBLE FEATURE (2023)

Short excerpt of the installation of DOUBLE FEATURE (2023) in the UCLA New Wight Gallery.

As a continuation of my prior projects in both theme and inspiration, I began to think about how I might create a horror film to show in a movie theater. For this piece I used a large format film camera to take photos of food styled to look like landscapes, each one referencing a different set from a classic horror film or television show (those works being Night of the Living Dead, The Birds, Them!, Attack of the 50-foot Woman, and The Twilight Zone respectfully). Those images were then set to a suspenseful soundtrack building to a reveal that never comes, leaving the viewer to watch in perpetual anxiety.
