Documentation of projection installation and audio form ANOMALY (2024)

The video provided is the last crescendo of the video that creates the ANOMALIES installation which has an original run time of 14 minutes showing a loop of two varied 7-minute videos in a loop. The work is projected onto a far wall in a completely dark room carpeted with artificial grass. I wanted to use this project to further push an exploration of sound design, thinking about how a room in total darkness might change and distort common sounds into something more disturbing. I started by mixing in food wrapper crinkling with leaves crunching and later moved to using audio from inside of a hospital to create the sounds of an alien ship. I used footage from hospitals and doctors’ offices to create light anomalies that slip in and out of view, sometimes only present as a deep hum and vibration boosted through a subwoofer.
